Meet Morgan
She is a dear friend, fellow yoga teacher and soul sister of mine. loves to dance, and sing, and connect with nature every chance she gets.
She's the best kind of friend because she doesn't have a filter - she straight up says what's on her mind. She's authentic, creative, and beyond compassionate. We have been through a lot together. I will never forget some of the hardest moments we shared while her mom was going through cancer. The ups the downs, the frustration, the tiredness, the hugs, yoga classes, and moments of just sitting in silence together. Even when her mom was in the thick of her cancer treatment, she found unshakable gratitude for the little things. As a caregiver, she did her absolute best to be a rock for her mom and her whole family.
This was no easy task, but here is some insight she has to share - about what helped her through this hard time - and how she can be a ray of hope for others who are in the thick of the storm right now.
Hey, I’m Morgan!
We asked Morgan a few questions about her journey.
Here’s the wisdom she shared!
Sowing Seeds Yoga: What has helped you on the toughest days?
Morgan: For me, when I am struggling and feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders I go to the ocean. Living in Vancouver has been one of the most divine life choices I have made. For me looking out into the ocean calms by soul and brings me back to alignment.
Sowing Seeds Yoga: What was one quote that you continue to hold dear?
Morgan: The wound is the place where the light enters you. -Rumi
Also, one my biggest life lessons I could share is:
When dealing with trauma and grief there is no timeline. Your day can be going beautifully and then all of a sudden it hits you. This immense amount of emotion that the logical brain cannot understand. I have had countless days of just crying in the shower. Emotions and grief so deep that it has taken the air out of my lungs and brought me down to my knees. In those moments all you can do is try to breathe and focus on the feeling that this will pass.
That you have made it this far and you will continue make it. For me writing is peace. It is a chance to get out all that is going on in my mind. It is like a release. The world needs more of us. To remind people of safety and comfort in knowing that our words will make a difference.
So today I encourage you if you are reading this - to take a walk in nature. Cry if you need to cry, fall to your knees, but get back up after. Share your heart. Your heart is unlike any other, and you have something inside that may very much be a ray of hope deeded for someone else too. Take quiet time for you, it’s important. Yet know that you are not alone. Try taking time to write it. Let it be messy, just release. You are still here for a reason. I believe that, and I hope you do too.
Writing it - to release it - is a beautiful thing.
-Morgan
